Description

The dataset includes Ascomycetous fungi isolated from forest and urban trees (Ophiostoma ulmi, O.novo-ulmi , Ceratocystis platani, Diplodia sapinea, Botryosphaericeae) and oomycetes isolated in ornamental nursery (Pythium, Phytophthora, Mortariella). The CNR-IPSP-FPOFUAOPWS collection preserves about 1500 strains for research purposes, also includes strains from collections of other Research centers or Universities. The strains are mainly isolated from plant tissues in different geographical areas. Preservation techniques: (i) CRYO: Freezer at -20 °C, in cryovials with spore suspension or with mycelium plug in water glycerol (50% v/v) or in pure water; (ii) FRESH CULTURES: Refrigerator at 4 °C in agar slants with mycelium. The ultimate goals of the collection are: taxonomical Identification (morphological, molecular), molecular typing; isolation, preservation and cultivation of microorganisms; population genetic studies; genetic and phenotypic variability; host-pathogen interaction; inoculation for disease resistance; biocontrol; ecological and physiology studies, biochemical characterization. The collection is a partner of the MIRRI Italian Node (https://www.mirri-it.it).

Data Records

The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 134 records.

3 extension data tables also exist. An extension record supplies extra information about a core record. The number of records in each extension data table is illustrated below.

Project Data

ITINERIS (PNRR Project IR0000032) Activity 6.5 "Mining and mapping the functional biodiversity in vivo and ex-situ research collections" - This activity aims to provide biodiversity (meta)data linked to Natural Science Collections (NSC) and related information (e.g.. images and videos, codification of functional traits, DNA and protein sequences, environmental parameters, etc.). The expected outcome of the activity is the implementation of a national network of biological research collections, including all the existing in vivo and ex-situ collections of biological organisms (animals, plants, fungi, algae, archaea, bacteria, viruses, etc.) that have been created and maintained through past and current research projects. || BIOMEMORY (CNR-DiSBA Project No. SAC.AD002.173) is the network of biological collections of the Department of Biology, Agriculture and Food Sciences (DiSBA) of the National Research Council of Italy (CNR) for bio-monitoring, biodiversity conservation, agri-food and environmental sustainability, and human well-being. The project aims to create a network of biobanks (i.e., scientific research collections) where data and metadata associated with biological samples of different natures are collected and stored in a systematic and well-organized way. Maintaining the existing collections will allow their future use for many purposes, from the genetic improvement of organisms to face environmental changes (climate-ready organisms) to the fight against epidemics and pandemics affecting humans, animals and plants.
